Age, friends, family, sex and death. And love? At fifty Patricia is in crisis. Her life has been one of dutiful convention, then she meets Alva and James, exotic visitors who change everything. Are they new best friends? Or voices from her unconscious leading her to a tragic secret?

This was a really rich read! I'm not generally a fiction reader but once in a while I like to read something different. It's always fun when it is still a fun, but clearly intellectually stimulating story. The Woman and the Rabbit is just that! I loved the many varied characters who, for me, jumped right off the page. The story follows Patricia as she goes through a mid life crisis and speaks mainly to herself throughout the book, trying, clawing for answers, desperate at times to figure out why she makes and has made the choices she has in her life. We get a clear sense of her angst and at the same time her alternating attitudes between amusement and resentment towards her psychological predicaments, all while she tries to figure out who she wants to "be" with regard to her various relationships. She is a very recognizable and sympathetic character, as she comes to terms with how she feels about her marriage, who her friends are (and whether she even respects them) and even how she relates (or not) to her children. I highly recommend it - very enjoyable read and especially good coming from a male author, who has clearly worked hard to "get into the head" of what the other gender goes through. Kudos!

The book was fantastic. I absolutely loved it. I have read a few of the authors books all of them top quality reads. Written so well. I would recommend Michael Feeney Callan as an author and his books to anybody.
Wonderful novel! Beautifully written. Michael Feeney Callan treats us to a colorful adventure centred around the perspective of Patricia, a
fifty year old woman going through a crisis. Her life had been one of convention, until she encounters colorful, unique characters, who trigger
her desire for something different. The author describles the inner workings of the mind of a middle aged woman, with all the changes, desires and questions that accompany this phase of life. Superb novel...I would highly recommend it!
